Denitrification in the Riverstrahler Model
نویسندگان
چکیده
Riverstrahler is a process-based model of nutrient transfer and biogeochemical functioning of large river systems (Billen et al., 1994; Garnier et al, 1995; Billen & Garnier, 2000) at the seasonal scale. Its essence lies in the coupling of an original representation of the drainage network, partly based on the streamorder classification of Strahler (1957), with a detailed model of biogeochemical processes (RIVE).

Comparison of ethanol, methanol and succinate effects as carbon sources on effluent biological denitrification
Abstract Background: Increase of nitrate concentration in water sources is becoming a serious problem in many parts of the world. Nitrogen containing compounds released into environment can create serious problems, such as eutrophication of water sources and hazard potential to human health, because it has potency of causing methemoglubinemia disease and cancer. Between recommended methods, bi...

Background and Objectives: Nowadays nitrate concentrations in surface water and especially in groundwater have increased in many locations in the world. Since nitrates cause many health and environmental concerns, increased nitrate concentrations in groundwater have led to rendered aquifers unusable as water sources. So, as the water demand is still increasing the throughout the world, decreasi...
متن کاملThe effect of metronidazole on biological denitrification of Pesudomonas stutzeri in wastewater
Background : Pseudomonus stutzeri bactrerium is one of the most important and effective denitrifier bacteria in wastewater. With regard to the importance of effects of nitrate on water resources and human health and role of metronidazole inhibition, this study was done with the aim of survey of effect of metronidazole different concentrations on biological denitrification of Pesudomonas stutzer...
متن کاملSimultaneous nitrification-denitrification in a sequencing batch reactor equipped with fixed Kaldnes carriers
The main aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of a modified sequencing batch reactor (MSBR) using fixed Kaldnes carriers fed with acclimated sludge for ammonium removal via simultaneous nitrification-denitrification (SND) in synthetic wastewater. The results exhibited a SND of 82.3% within a 450-minute cycle time which was higher than that of a SBR without carrier (69.83%). Nitrite...
متن کاملSurveying Denitrification Efficacy in Up-Flow Packed Bed Bioreactor Operated under Heterotrophic Condition Using Autotrophic Bacteria
Introduction: The biological denitrification process is an interesting cost-effective technique to remove nitrate from water supplies. Acetic acid can be used as a carbon source in this process, but its consumption rate is a critical issue and, in some cases, it is quite different from stoichiometric constants. The current study aimed to investigate the nitrate removal in an up-flow packed bed ...
